How merciful is our Creator
who formed the heart within?
So merciful He still loved me
even though I was steeped in sin.
How merciful is our Father
who watches from above?
So merciful He gave His Son
whom He offered out of love.
How merciful is our Master
who rules both Heaven and Earth?
So merciful He freed us from our sin
of which we've had since birth.
How merciful is our Redeemer
who died upon that cross?
So merciful that He bore our sins
that we not be counted as loss.
How merciful is our Savior
whose blood covers every sin?
So merciful His body was broken
so that we might live again.
How merciful is our Lord
whose Kingdom is beyond compare?
So merciful He intercedes unto the Father
so we can join them there.

"not I, but Christ"
Galatians 2:20
Though your path may be strewn with sorrow,
And lonely may be your day,
There's One Who will walk beside you
and bring joy and gladness your way.
There is one who knows all your heartache;
He sees ev'ry falling tear;
His grace will bring you rich comfort
And help all your burdens to bear.
Though your dearest friend may forsake you,
And loved ones misunderstand,
There's One Who will never leave you;
He'll hold to your faltering hand.
Come, kneel at the Cross of the Savior
And cast your cares upon Him!
He graciously bestows pardon
And takes away burden of sin.
There is never a disappointment,
Nor heartache He cannot heal;
He'll answer your soul's deep longing,
As in His blest Presence you kneel.

Mercy:   compassion that forbears punishing even when justice demands it....
we don't get what we deserve

Grace:   benign attitude and a willingness to grant favors or make concessions....
we get what we don't deserve

The best example I have heard given to explain mercy and grace is that of being stopped by a cop for speeding.  He comes up to you and says, "I know you were going 55 mph in a 35 mph zone but I'm not going to give you a ticket" .. that is mercy... but then the cop goes on to say.... "Here, I am going to GIVE you $100 as well "... that is grace.  Not getting the punishment we do deserve, and then getting what we don't deserve...
that is mercy and grace.

God's mercy and grace extends much deeper than we can even begin to comprehend.  It influences our lives daily in many ways that we may even fail to recognize, but the most significant time of mercy and grace was that shown at Calvary.  Our sins deserve God's punishment and wrath because they truly are an abomination to Him.  But because of His great love for us, God sent us His Son, Jesus, and He paid that debt for us.  He bore the pain and suffering for OUR sins and out of God's great mercy and compassion for us, Jesus has already paid the penalty for them.  It is by God's grace we are saved and not by anything we ourselves can do.  Yet, we must accept the finished work of the cross and Jesus as our Savior into our hearts or this gift of God's salvation sits there unopened and useless.

If you would like to learn more about receiving Jesus as your personal Savior or see what Scripture has to say about this, then just click cross below and it will take you to a special page that will discuss exactly that.  Chances are you've thought about God many times and may even consider yourself a Christian yet you've never really actually confessed Jesus as your Savior or accepted Him as Lord of your life.  Maybe it's time to dig a little deeper.   Remember, God loves you very much, and that will never change, but He wants to bring you close... let Him.

There's Only Grace
By Matthew West
There are many songs that speak of God's mercy and grace that are very lovely and would have been very appropriate to put on this page; but, I believe this one speaks so wonderfully of God's grace.   We can't earn our salvation.  We can't do anything to make God love us anymore than He already does.  And there is no way that we could ever possibly repay Him for the mercy and grace that He has shown us.  But we can give Him something He desires above all else... and that is our hearts and our praise and our worship.

There is no guilt here
There is no shame
No pointing fingers
There is no blame
What happened yesterday…has disappeared
The dirt has washed away
And now it's clear

There's only grace
There's only love
There's only mercy and believe me it's enough
Your sins are gone
Without a trace
And there's nothing left now
There's only grace

You're starting over now
Under the sun
You're stepping forward now
A new life has begun
Your new life has begun

An’ there's only grace
There's only love
There's only mercy and believe me…it's enough
Your sins are gone
Without a trace
And there's nothing left now
There's only grace…

And if you should fall again
Get back up, get back up
Reach out and take my hand
Get back up, get back up
Get back up again

There's only grace…
There's only love…
There's only mercy and believe me it's enough…it’s enough
Your sins are gone
Without a trace
And there's nothing left now
There's only…there’s only…grace…

There's only mercy and believe me it's enough…it’s enough
Your sins are gone
Without a trace
And there's nothing left now
There’s only…grace……
So get back up…get back up again…
Get back up again.
Father, there is none like You.  You have lavished Your love on us in so many ways that it is impossible to even begin to name them all.  You offer Your comfort and protection so many times and I know that we are guarded and kept safe many times when we do not even realize that we have been in harm's way.  Your mercy and compassion on mankind has been poured out time and time again and yet so many times we seem so thankless and take for granted all that comes from Your hands.  Lord, help us to realize just how much You are there for us and how much You have done for us.  Don't let us walk in blindness to all the wonderful ways that You have blessed us already.  Help us to be truly thankful for Your mercy and Your grace.  Lord, teach us to worship You as You desire to worshipped; to lift Your Holy name above all names and give You the glory, honor and praise that You are so worthy of.  Lord, we can never repay You for all You have done, for Your gift of salvation, for loving us as You do... but we can glorify Your name.  We can give You praise, Lord.  We can say Hallelujah to God Our Father.. a thousand praises to the Lord Most High.. and this we do, Lord.   Be with each person that visits this site, Father.  You know the need in each of their lives and I ask that You be with them in a special way and minister to them as only You can do.  I ask that You work through these pages as You see fit and and have them reach those they were intended to reach.   In Jesus' most precious name we pray.. amen and amen.
Hi Friend ~ the joy of the Lord to you!

It is fitting that the Bible passage that I "just happened" to run across and be reading the other night and that I also "just happened" to run across and read about in an old Sunday School lesson book from a couple years ago had to do with Mary... the one who had sinned greatly and fell at the feet of Jesus and cleansed his feet with her tears and hair and annointed His feet with expensive oil.  She was well aware of the great wrongs in her life and of the one who could forgive her of them.  Great mercy and compassion was bestowed upon her from her Savior.

I think we take our salvation for granted alot of times.. especially those who were saved young or raised in church most of their lives.  Sometimes something very traumatic has to take place before we are really made aware of just how precious it really is.  When you come to a point in your life when the realization of what Jesus has really done for you finally hits home and the consequences of what your life would be had He not gone to the cross or had you not accepted Him into your heart, there is an overflowing abundance of gratitude that pours out of your heart.  It isn't until you've experienced that though that you can truly understand just how merciful God really is.  God is faithful, even when we are not.  Even when we deserve His anger and His punishment, He reaches out in love instead and offers us His mercy and forgiveness.  I can relate to Mary quite well.  Like her, I know that I am in no way worthy, but I know that no matter what... when I am at the feet of Jesus asking to be forgiven for all of my shortcomings and failures, I am forgiven.. because our Lord is full of mercy and grace.

This poem, How Merciful is He, was written by me in March 2000.  I had already been saved for over 22 years but that was the year that I became aware of the great depth of His mercy and grace.  I pray you will one day also if you have not already.

May the Lord be with you always.
